I love the New Year. It always feels fresh and liberating .. we set new goals and hopes for ourselves. We find ourselves determined and ready to tackle the year ahead of us!! Over the years I've come to realize that setting some of these goals at the beginning often start off with a bang and then fizzle away rather quickly, ha! do others suffer from this too?!! In the photography world there are many photography "challenges". Two of the most popular are a 365 day challenge (taking a photo a day for an entire year) and a 52 week challenge (one photo a week for an entire year). The reality for me is that shooting every day for a whole year, is HARD! One photo a week sounds more doable but after seeing a close friend post something on her page, it resonated so well with me. This is what I need to do. 100 days of happiness challenge. Documenting 100 days of joy and happiness. Surely I can do that right? Winters are long, exhausting and it's easy to fall in to a rut. It's easy to see the negative in the days rather than all the joys ... so I am determined (the third day of January :) to post 100 days of my happiness. A glimpse in to my world as a stay at home working mama. Cheers to a New Year filled with new goals and loads of happiness. Stay true to ourselves, don't compare ourselves, and be grateful for the abundance in our lives .. I am going to continue to try and remind myself of these simplicities in my days. xo, mpp
He was snoozing upstairs when I arrived so I quickly snapped photos of all that his mama (and papa) had done to make his party special for him. With small details, family from out of town and love that you could literally feel the second you walked in .. Mr. William awoke to smiling faces and loads of love. As mom and dad cheersed each other with a bite of cake and happily said "we made it!", I knew how important this day was! This family has a special place in my heart and I'm forever grateful that they continue to choose me to document their life. Happy birthday to one of the sweetest little red head boys I know :)
Here's the thing .. when you're welcomed in to someone's home to capture their everyday, their happiness, it's a very personal thing and I want my clients to feel as though I've captured the memories they want remembered. I feel honored whenever someone asks me to document their life, even if it's just a short snippet! This family was no exception .. they have such a great energy and their two boys are extremely bright .. with super infectious smiles! Mom and I met a short while back and instantly hit it off so it was no wonder that when I went to take pictures, it felt completely natural! Meet, Tom + Sarah + Odin + Viggo
An old high school friend who I haven't seen in ages contacted me recently to document her family. She wanted a little less posed and a little more "moments", my favorite. I was greeted by a happy lab and a 1.5 year old who very quickly wanted to show me all his toys/books and tricks. He was so sweet and I felt like I could have stayed there all day taking photos of three of them! Here's a little look in to the wonderful world of Jack (+ his mom and dad)!
My first official blog post in two years. I've been missing typing these keys and writing words to accompany the pictures, because really the words help tell the story. I have so much to feel grateful for this year and honestly have nothing to complain about. It's easy to get sucked in to negativity, to feel unhappy about many aspects of our lives but at the end of the day, the things that really matter, I have absolutely nothing to complain about and so much to be happy about. I post so much on my business page of recent sessions and very rarely give a glimpse in to my world. Today, on a day filled with so much gratitude and love, I wanted to show you my happiness, a very small glimpse in to a short walk with my family. I hope all of you have a safe, warm, love filled holiday and find all the wonderful things to be thankful for this season.
